Where to Start?

Where to Start?

Where to start my pitch? It is the question I’m asked the most from my coaching clients, no matter if they are pitching a film, a product, or themselves as a brand.

I suggest starting with the premise.

There is something about starting with the premise of your story. No matter what story you are telling, beginning with the very thing that kicks (or kicked) things into motion for you, your product, or your main character is the place the true storytelling begins.

The premise ignites you into a passion filled story because believe it or not, it’s the part that started your creativity in the first place. The premise starts the journey on which the listener travels along with you. You can go anywhere from here; and when you come to the fork in the road, you have the option to go on whichever path makes the most sense as long as your listener gains more insight.

Start with the premise.  Go on. Practice starting with the premise. Put 3 minutes on the clock and practice your pitch!
