In other news, BET is making moves…Get it!

They announced during Upfront’s that they ordered quite a few shows including, six docuseries, five scripted series, and a number of specials and tentpole events.

I couldn’t help but wonder one thing as I read through each new show they picked up…that is…who’d the creators pitch first? I don’t know why my mind always goes there, I guess because I get super excited when it comes to deconstructing the pitching process. If you could humor me, and just for the sake of guessing, who’d you think the creators of these new BET shows pitched first? And which one(s) do you think are the most original concepts?

I’ve said plenty of times before that packaging a project, or attaching the right talent or crew to a project, make the project more viable. When I look at all the people attached to these new shows that BET ordered, they all mention well-known producers, showrunner’s, and or production companies attached to them. Music celebrities aside, celebrity actors aren’t mentioned in this write-up.

My guess is that the producers were among the first pitched to come on board the projects. What about you? Who would you say the creators attached first; producers, actors, Showrunner’s, or production companies? At the end of the day, any or all of these attachments are a win win for any project. I’ll dig more to find out what actors, if any are attached.

I’m going to revisit my pitching wishlists and in some instances re-create a wishlist of executive producers, showrunner’s, and production companies to pitch. Sometimes, we have to think outside of the box with whom we are pitching. We can’t always go after the most known people and production companies.

Welp, if you want…
